On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Thailand Pavilion within the Village International at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, the Thailand Film Office and the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) co-hosted a reception for AFCNet members attending this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.
AFCNet is a network of film commissions from countries across Asia and Oceania, with a total of 18 member countries. Attendees included representatives from countries such as Indonesia, Japan, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, and the Kyrgyz Republic. The event provided a platform for members to exchange information on film production incentives, updates on each country’s film industry, and to foster stronger connections among member nations.
At the event, the Director of the Thailand Film Office presented traditional Thai “elephant pants” as souvenirs to member country representatives, filmmakers, and directors from attending member countries. This gesture was aimed at promoting Thailand’s soft power through traditional attire, leaving a lasting impression on attendees. Participants praised Thailand for its professionalism and readiness in hosting a world-class exhibition booth, expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality.
